Information for Final Project and Project Proposal Form

Project Requirements:

1. Proposal Form emailed to instructor on due date. (Cut and paste the below text into your word processing file and print a copy. Save it and put it at the back of the project when you turn it in.)
2. Documentation Cover Sheet completed and attached to the front of the final documentation project.
3. Project Description Sheet completed and attached as directed by the check list materials it should total 1000 - 3000 words in two sections. All sections of the Project Description sheet must be clearly written on the sheet by cutting and pasting your text into it. You should include full bibliographic citations (APA Style or similar) for secondary sources as necessary.
4. The check list (It functions like a table of contents).

5 . Interview samples of least 200 words of transcribed (fully documented electronic communications are acceptable) interview data attached as directed by the check list. Even if you use all 200 word in other parts of the project, you must have a separate page with just all the raw transcription you did to have a complete project.
6 . Documentary materials of a contemporary vernacular communicative behavior including at least 5 discreet examples of that behavior attached as directed by the check list.
7. An informal presentation of your research and results to the rest of class during the final two weeks of the course.
8. The project turned in by the due date.

Please Note:
These communicative events may be documented through "whatever (technological but not ethical) means necessary."
These communicative events must be "observed" by you.
They do not need to be "technological" but they must be "folkloric" in some sense as addressed by you in your Project Description Sheet.
Extra-Credit of 10% for the Final Project will be given for all students who complete the assignment by turning in (via CD-ROM or email attachment) the entire project in an electronic form (If turning the project in electronically, the student can but is not required to turn in a hardcopy as well.)
Graduate students must consult with the instructor to formulate a research project of the appropriate size for the course.
